I use blogger which is free with a gmail account. Go to www.google.com and click on "My Account" at the top right of the screen. Next, click on Blogger and follow directions to start your blog! Here is a link to my blog, which I use mostly for my own use in writing notes from meetings and events. This helps me not loose my notes!
Here is a blog about a blog from ASCD! Although it is for elementary age students, the examples are impressive. Click on the link for her blog when you go to this site?
There are other sites for blogs, as well, including the following:
www.edublog.com
www.blogmeister.com
The key ingredient for a blog and wiki is the ability for your students to have their thoughts and ideas heard. They will then be able to speak for those who cannot speak. The network of wikis and blogs and heighten awareness among the users of blogs and wikis and students can truly feel that they are making a difference in the world.
